One way to increase your popularity might be to do spell check so that you look slightly more intelligent (instead of some sort of weirdo just popping into this site do attempt to set up some sort of solicitation).

Assuming you're serious:

Popularity, like many things is a two edged sword. Not enough can be a bad thing, but too much can be equally bad. Moderation in all things is the key. Too little, and you're lonely, unvalidated, etc. Too much, and you're at risk of developing an unhealthy sized ego, or conceit. Of course, I guess it's just called friendship when it's at the proper levels.

If you're not serious:

If you wanna be a good troll, you really should check yer spelling and grammar.

"One way to increase your popularity might be to do spell check so that you look slightly more intelligent (instead of some sort of weirdo just popping into this site do attempt to set up some sort of solicitation)."

I don't think intelligence and popularity necessarily have that strong of a correlation. For instance, someone on the extreme end of a normal distribution for intelligence may actually have a far more difficult time fitting in because socializing doesn't come naturally. Of course, there are exceptions to this.

As far as it being wrong to want to be popular, I think that's subjective. Some people may well thrive being the center of attention and the go-to person for this or that, while others are uncomfortable with that much attention being drawn to them.

I for one, agree with the person who said that balance is key. You don't want to be egotistical, nor do you want to be detached, so it's a fine line to walk.

I also would feel content just being accepted, and a few friendships is enough for me. I'm not one who needs 40-100 people admiring me to feel like I have purpose in the world.

I apologize for my earlier comments, I was attempting to bring some levity into a fairly ridiculous discussion being offered up to a gaming site(IMHO) with a bit of sarcasm. On no level do I believe that intelligence and popularity are corresponding attributes, but would tend to think they are inversely related when either attribute could be measured as greater than "normal." I do not think so. If you want to be popular, you want to be better. Anyway, you should improve yourself daily to be really organized and live without stress.
