In the discussion forum in boardGameGeek a rule that I have not seen anywhere before appeared. It comes from Dirk Henn himself, according to a poster: If the defender has the benefit of the green cubes, and the outcome in the cup is that the defender has more cubes than the attacker, but the cubes are all green, the result is devastation, not victory for the defender.
As an example, 'W' attacks with 1 cube against 'M', defending with 1 cube and peasants. Out of the tower falls only one green cube. The defender has 1 cube (green), the attacker 0. This would lead to the a win for the defender, but with no cubes to put back in the province, since it is green. That's why the extra rule is needed. At least one of the defenders outcome must be of his own color, otherwise devastation will occur. It is the cubes that defines control of a province. This is not explicit in the current rules, I have read the German, English and Norwegian versions. The web software should reflect this extra rule. |
