The Scottsdale Az collector car auctions are taking place in the United States this weekend.
Barrett-Jackson dominates the weekend, with several days of live auctions. 75% of the cars are produced in the US after 1940, with a lot of modified classics (high-end hot rods) and customs among the baby boomer muscle cars.
However, other major players are well represented - Gooding, RM Sotheby's, Bonhams and others.
Some of them now stream their auctions online, so you can see the action in real time.
The trend I noticed last summer during Monterey Week seems to be continuing in Scottsdale - 90% of the cars DON't reach pre-sale estimates. In most cases, it falls short by 10-20%, and in some cases even more. |

I do not recommend buying used cars at auctions. Often people are deceived at such auctions. For example, they sell them a car with bad parts, and so on. In short, it's Russian roulette. I understand that some people want to try driving classic cars and then have a classic car driving experience. But believe me, not all vintage cars are comfortable to use. Yes, it's beautiful when you have such a car in your garage, but it's not always fun to drive such a car, although sometimes there are great vintage cars... Good luck to you. |
