It was only this week that Madden NFL 21 did indeed get the final franchise upgrade. That means there won't be any more considerable work on the game, other than bug fixes and light upgrades. The focus today does indeed turn to the next installment for many fans. If EA moves full speed forward, Madden NFL 22 will probably be out in about five months. However, the business does still have an out. Even though the cover athlete has been leaked, Henry or Madden NFL 22 hasn't been formally announced. In fact, the company hasn't confirmed there's any pay athlete, or even a Madden 22. Perhaps it should take that chance to announce there will not be one.

There's some precedent if EA decided to hold off and have a year off for Madden, even if it is not likely. It doesn't occur all that frequently. Most of the time, as soon as a game franchise starts down the"annual release" monitors, the train does not wish to stop. However, when it comes to Madden NFL 21 and the remainder of the franchise, a break might be called for. There has been quite a little talk about how the series is hardly more than a reskinning and roster update, for $70 annually.

If EA did decide to hold off until Madden NFL 23, it would be approximately following in the footsteps of the WWE 2K franchise. 2K sports declared last year it had been likely to step back and jump a year. Rather, it released a smaller match, WWE 2K Battlegrounds, while the firm talked about making certain the next installment in the series was going to be better. EA might be well-served to perform exactly the same with Madden.

Considering Electronic Arts has made it clear it comprehends people's legitimate complaints regarding the Madden franchise, there's another reason why taking a year away from the series may be a good thing. The company is apparently working on restarting a second long-running series that has had over a decade off.
