I know the author of this game personally and next time i meet him at a game evening (could be next friday ) i will ask him, what he thinks should be done in such a situation.

But i also think a warning message would be the best way. Perhaps also that auto skipping thing if you cant do anything.

The other thing to remember is that it won't necessarily be impossible to play for the rest of the game. If the other player takes one of your harvest chips (because they need the money), then you can re-harvest and get back into play.

That's also a very good point.

I think the most we would do is offer a warning. I haven't thought it through entirely but I'm somewhat concerned about the difficulty of detecting if someone will truly be stuck. There are relatively easy cases: you have no animal cards, you can't play a harvest, you have no land cards, you have $1 or less; but there may be numerous variants of that case which are less obvious to detect.

It seems to me that perhaps the best way for people to not get stuck like this is to learn the hard way.

Thats what I was thinking also, about the harvest chip...the game isn't necessarily over for the person who allows the gold to go down to 1 but it could potentially be a very long game...and a lot of clicking "end turn".
A message might be especially useful for those who are new to the game, like myself. I had no idea, for a long time, how exactly to earn $$ and points.
