Here are Tidbits from Geek of the Week: Mikael Sheikh (milksheikh) thread from January 2006.

I just copied and pasted a few comments by Mikael for those who haven't read the entire thread. Hope he doesn't mind...if so just delete the post please. I bolded the games to make it easy to quickly find tidbit of info about any game you have an interest in.
My only question is has Amigo given their blessing yet for Santiago?

Despite having personal ties to the original artwork, Richard Breese does see a commercial advantage to using the new (current) graphics. We had also talked about letting players pick which they wanted to see. But I haven't yet received the artwork from What's Your Game?, so I haven't gone forward with it.
There's nothing wrong with owning both Wallenstein and Shogun...
I'll definitely consider providing both versions, particularly if the gameplay is the same. Similar to the desire to use the new Reef Encounter artwork, I imagine there would be some commercial/marketing advantage to offering the current, in-print Shogun game online. I'll have to enquire further...
Thanks for the praise! Well, Santiago will be up once I stop procrastinating and finish the details. We ran a couple test games without problem, but there were a number of suggestions I'd like to implement before it goes public. I also never got Amigo's blessing, so I'll have to bug them again.

Those that I have heard back from have generally been very encouraging. The Splotter Spellen folks previewed my Bus implementation and ran it through some tests (finding some bugs which were actually rules misinterpretations I had made). Richard Breese (Reef Encounter) was great -- helping beta test a couple games. Roman Pelek and Claudia Hely were very enthusiastic and will hopefully be helping with some Santiago tests soon, as will William Attia and the Ystari folks with Caylus. Even the bigger names -- designers Wolfgang Kramer and Reiner Knizia and publishers Hans im Glück, Kosmos, Alea -- were encouraging in their messages giving me permission to proceed.

I guess I'd like to do some more Splotter games (e.g. Roads and Boats, Antiquity, and Indonesia) -- particularly since those are fairly lengthy games that many (including me) never get a chance to play face-to-face.

Favourite game for 2 players: I really like Ra with 2 players
Favourite game for 3 players: Carolus Magnus (well, I might prefer to play other games with 3, but Carolus Magnus is much better with 3 than any other number)
Favourite game for 4 players: San Marco? Lowenherz?
Favourite game for 5 players: La Citta? El Grande? Maybe Chinatown. Or...
Favourite game for 6 or more players: Bohnanza |
