Look at the following game:

I (lightnng) ended with 13 gold, third place. Sirekainen ended with 12 gold, fourth.

Yet in the scoring Sirekainen received 2 points for third place in most gold, and lightnng received 0 points for last.

Doesn't matter to me, but it does matter to the winner!

Am I reading this wrong?

power cards that you cannot use count as gold

Every unused power card that you have at the end of the game is automatically "sold" for one gold to add to your total. Sirenkain has 12 gold and three power cards, so a real total of 15 gold. You have 13 gold and no power cards, so 13 gold.

Remember that you can sell a power card for one gold at any time, so the implementation of this game is doing that for you right at the very end of the game to maximize the gold that you have in your hand.

If you read the message during the scoring phase of round 6 it will tell you this. I can't remember the exact wording but it's something like "Every unused power card will count as one gold towards the 'most gold' calculation."

Cool, thank you gentlemen for the reply. I wish the interface would actually go through the process of selling the cards and adding them to the total, though.
