suspect it has more to do with the difference in rooms than receiver. Have you actually brought his receiver to your place and listened to it with your system? I would definitely do that before expecting any great improvement with a new receiver. On the one hand, weblink is a respected brand, on the other, it looks like your model is mid tier at best, but still...
