It is the person who placed the first tile. Then it goes to the player to the right of them.

In the interests of being more complete.

When playing the basic game, the person who placed the first tile scores, then the person who placed the second tile, and so forth. In-person, this happens clockwise, so it progresses from right to left. Online, it happens from left to right.

When playing the auction game, final scoring is in order of current points, from least to greatest. The auction game is, imho, so much superior to the basic game that I'm waiting for it to be implemented on SBW before I play Tikal online again.

Yes, too much luck involved in basic game. Auctions rise the value of each tile at the right price. Thank you!

The problem, as discussed elsewhere on this board, is that the auction version of the game will add a huge number of moves to the game, making it much less attractive as a play by web game.

And, as discussed elsewhere on the board, many of us do not see this as a problem at all. It is only a problem is someone signs up for an auction game and doesn't realize what they're getting into. Anyone who thinks that "too many moves" is a problem can simply play the non-auction version.

Rather than flatly stating that it will be "much less attractive as a play by web game" you should say it will be much less attractive to you as a play by web game. It's clear that some of us think the auction variant is much more attractive as a game, whether played in person on on the web.

Just thought I'd chime in to say we are still planning on doing the auction variant as soon as we can get to it.

I'll have to add my vote to preferring the auction version to the point of not playing otherwise.

Actually it's the player to the right of the person who placed the last tile that scores first. The person who placed the last tile is last to score.

You're both saying the same thing. The first person to score is:

* The player who placed the first tile
* The player to the right of the person who placed the last tile.

Both of these are the same player.

Not in the auction version of the game, I believe.

Correct. In the auction version the first player to score is the player with the least amount of victory points after the final tile has been played and that person has taken their turn. Then it goes to the next lowest player and so forth until everyone has scored.

Yes, that's right. The auction variant was described in detail in the third post in the thread, above.

I was talking about basic game...the question was about FINAL scoring. Yes, whoever draws the volcano scores first, however, at the end of the game the LAST person to draw a tile is the LAST person to score. So the above description about the basic game isn't correct if it's refering to the FINAL scoring.
