That wouldn't be too hard to set up, and it would be more exciting than facing three moves on the same map with the same opponent in a row. |
I think the intent was that everyone plays map A week one, B week two, C week 3, etc.
And I think they were going to subject us to stargate's idea of fun, where we play one variant 1 game, one variant 2 and one variant 1 & 2. |

That would still work. Just do something like this, with players ABCD and Maps XYZ
Code: |
Round 1:
Player V1 V2 V1&2
A BX CY DZ
B AX DY CZ
C DX AY BZ
D CX BY AZ
Round 2:
Player V2 V1&2 V1
A BX CY DZ
B AX DY CZ
C DX AY BZ
D CX BY AZ
Round 3:
Player V1&2 V1 V2
A BX CY DZ
B AX DY CZ
C DX AY BZ
D CX BY AZ
|
And so on. With this kind of arrangement, you hit every map vs. every variant vs. every player in 9 rounds; with more players and more rounds, it would take longer to hit all the permutations, but it would if you did one combo at a time, too. I think it would be more fun mixed up.
It's really not hard; if you can make up a rotation initially, it's very easy to stagger the games. |

I think I like Dobinator's version of the round robin in principle, and making the draw would be very easy. I'm not sure I can handle the complexity of organising the games and tracking results however..
The verdict is clearly for everyone playing each round on the same map.
I'll sit down tomorrow night or on the weekend and put the final draw, choose the maps etc and we'll aim to get started by Monday.
Last chance for any more suggestions or input.
My thought about the maps is I'll pick the first 5 or 6 and then open the floor for suggestions for the last 3 or so rounds. |

Will the variants be as in dobinators chart...1, 2, 1&2....or the usual no variant, v1, v2? |

I'd prefer playing the variant 1 with variant 2, because variant 1 needs requires more animals, and the first scoring comes "too early" with two scoring rounds. |

I agree but its not as bad in a 2 player game. V1 in a 4 or 5 player sucks. |

I like no var, var 1 and var 2
Var 1&2 require a really good map design to be a good game |

Here are the maps I propose to use in the first season of Hacienda League play:
117
181
187
145
271
312
179
3
4
They are all maps I've used before. I'll try the newer maps in general tournaments.
Let me know your thoughts..! |

Is there any need for more maps? I might be interested to create maps if there's any use for them. |

A need? Perhaps not. Those of us who make maps do so because we enjoy it and we like testing out our ideas and trying to improve them. |

good new maps are always fun to try, it tests people's ability to assess a map and work out how best to play it.
The round 2 map in the 2 knockout player tournament is a map I've not tried before, for example. Puzzling over how best to approach it is fun. |
