Well, all group matches have finished and the results are in!

Thanks to all participants and congrats to all those who made it through to the next round. Placings were as follows:

A1: sedge
A2: brianlcarr
B1: cterrell
B2: danbar1963
C1: kxw
C2: almondralf
D1: Bogey
D2: tphon
E1: Alashar
E2: smlait
F1: Vinny
F2: matrix
G1: gische
G2: JM

Next comes the wildcards. 4 players - Rebelsayer, klingone, Fenris and stargate were all tied on 10 points.

Stargate had the most number of wins and picked up the first wildcard slot.

Klingone and Rebelslayer were next in line with the most number of 2nd finishes. Rebelslayer had an average of 93.75 and Klingone had an average of 97, taking the 2nd wildcard.

Congrats to stargate and Klingone on making it through.

So, the second round is thus:

Group H: sedge, matrix, klingone, JM
Group I: smlait, giscche, cterrell, stargate
Group J: Vinny, kxw, brianlcarr, tphon
Group K: almondralf, Alashar, Bogey, danbar 1963

The players whose name who appears first in the groups (ie, sedge, smlait, Vinny and almondralf) now need to create 4 passworded games for the rest of the group to join.

The name of the game should be:

Tikal Tournament (Group) (number)

ie, I'll be creating 4 games titled

Tikal Tournament Group H 1
Tikal Tournament Group H 2
Tikal Tournament Group H 3
Tikal Tournament Group H 4

The password for all games will be " tournament " and the names of the participants should be entered in the comments field.

Once each game is completed, the winner will PM me the scores from the game or post against this thread and once all 4 x 7 games have been completed I'll post the results.

Good luck all!

Group K finished their games today and for the most part, they were very tight battles, feeling a lot closer than the scores indicate. Except for the game where Bogey blew the rest of us away. The results are:

Game 1
Alashar - 105
Bogey - 100
almondralf - 91
danbar 1963 – 74

Game 2
Alashar - 101
Bogey - 97
almondralf - 92
danbar 1963 – 81

Game 3
Bogey - 118
Alashar - 97
almondralf - 96
danbar 1963 – 69

Game 4
Alashar - 103
Bogey - 101
danbar 1963 – 96
almondralf - 86

Point-wise, it works out to:
Alashar – 15
Bogey – 13
almondralf – 7
danbar 1963 – 5

Thanks for the games. It looks like the other sets are close to wrapping up as well. Will the top 2 players move on to the next set as before?

Thanks for that!

And yeah, as per the previous round, half the contestants will be culled and the highest 2 point scorers will proceed to the next round (ie, yourself and Bogey)

So far we have 6 of the 8 Semi Finalists determined, just waiting for the last turn or two from the final group who have nearly wrapped up their games then I'll post the SF draw.....

So now? Do the 8 semifinalists split into 2 groups, play 4 games each (like the previoius rounds) then the top 2 from each group play in the final?

(in your best Dave Chappell voice)....I needs to know so I can magnification my optimalization stratification of the situational.

Yep that's it.

After some extremely close matches and pool results, the semi-final list has been sorted.

Congrats to the following members:

Group H: sedge, JM
Group I: smlait, cterrell
Group J: Vinny, brianlcarr
Group K: Alashar, Bogey

The semi-final draw is:

Group L: sedge, Alashar, cterrell, brianlcarr
Group M: smlait, Vinny, Bogey, JM

Someone from each now needs to create 4 passworded games for the rest of the group to join.

They should be titled:

Tikal Tournament (Group) (number)

eg

Tikal Tournament Group L 1
Tikal Tournament Group L 2
Tikal Tournament Group L 3
Tikal Tournament Group L 4

The password for all games will be " tournament " and the names of the participants should be entered in the comments field.

Good luck all!

Our pool wasn't that close. Susan pretty much smacked us around. I'm happy to be in a different bracket! Laughing Wait a minute, I'm in the same group as Sedge! Shocked

Our semi-final games were crazy close! One win each and lots of ties for second place. (How does that work, pointswise? Do both players get 3 points with 1 point for the last-place player? Or do both players get 2.5 points, splitting the difference between second and third? I'm assuming the first, but couldn't find anything to confirm that.)

Game 1 (the only not-even-close one)
Vinny 126
smlait 99
Bogey 92
JM 83

Game 2 (still waiting on the last player to score; however, Bogey already has enough points to win without using any action points; the only question is how much he'll win by)
Bogey 97+
smlait 93 (tied for second)
Vinny 93 (tied for second)
JM 92

Game 3
smlait 97
Vinny 90
Bogey 88
JM 69

Game 4
JM 90
smlait 87 (tied for second)
Bogey 87 (tied for second)
Vinny 86

That gives me the win for the group, and ties Bogey and Vinny for second (I think):
smlait: 4+3+3(2.5?)+3(2.5?) = 13(12?) points
Bogey: 4+2+2+3(2.5?) = 11(10.5?) points
Vinny: 4+3+1+3(2.5?) = 11(10.5?) points
JM: 4+1+1+1 = 7 points

I think it comes down to the total number of wins for me and Bogey. For me this is:

Inital round: 3 wins
Quarter final: 2 wins
Semi final: 1 win

For a total of six wins

Looking back at the results posted, I see Bogey has

Inital round: 3 wins
Quarter final: 1 wins
Semi final: 1 win

For a total of five wins

Phew, I think I just scraped by Very Happy

True enough, you have one extra win and you do advance. Congrats! And as my 14 y.o. says, "Yo, Represent!" Smile

But just so I don't catch too much crap from my buddies Brian and Chris:

Point totals:

First Round
Bogey 15
Vinny 14

Second round:
Bogey 13
Vinny 11

I'm not so sure about that. Bogey had a higher point total (though fewer overall wins) in the first two rounds:

Initial round:
Bogey - 15
Vinny - 14

Quarter final:
Bogey - 13
Vinny - 11

Of course, Sedge will likely make the final call, but since we've been basing everything on points thus far, that would be my guess.
