4 4 0 0 0 Rebelslayer
5 3 2 0 0 efreeman
4 2 2 0 0 sokshee
5 1 2 1 1 mimoo
5 1 1 2 1 domster
4 1 1 2 0 coach
3 1 1 0 1 Linx
4 1 0 2 1 ahauwi1
3 1 0 2 0 Gaditus

4 0 1 0 3 striking_cobra
4 0 0 3 1 Bkruppa

It appears that Rebelslayer's perfect record is about to go. Probably done enough to get into the final though!

I'd hope 4 out of 5 wins was enough!

With 2 games to finish:

5 4 0 1 0 Rebelslayer
5 3 2 0 0 efreeman
5 3 2 0 0 sokshee
4 2 1 0 1 Linx
5 1 2 1 1 mimoo
5 1 1 2 1 domster
4 1 1 2 0 coach
4 1 0 3 0 Gaditus
4 1 0 2 1 ahauwi1
5 1 0 1 3 gnoccarello
5 0 3 1 1 swok
3 0 3 0 0 Romendil
4 0 1 1 2 tammykins
5 0 1 0 4 Payton3434
4 0 1 0 3 striking_cobra
5 0 0 4 1 Bkruppa

Three finalists already known, but Linx could still be eased out by coach or Romendil

Still two games to finish, but coach has won the first of them, with other places to be decided.

This leaves it all down to the last game (2D). Linx needs to finish in first or second to make the final, otherwise coach will join Rebelslayer, efreeman and sokshee.

If one of the three already there wishes to set up the final in anticipation please call it Re 4player final with password Re.

The position in the last game has become clear enough to see that Linx will not finish in the top two, and so will be eased out of the final by coach.

The finalists are therefore Rebelslayer, efreeman, sokshee and coach.

Please set up the final as Re 4player final with password Re .

Let's see if you can finish before tournament two! Good luck to all.

And the winner is ...

... efreeman. That's a double, both the inaugural 4 and 5 player tournaments.

Well played Eric. Any tips for us mere mortals?

Thanks, Gaditus....

As for tips..."it's better to be lucky than good?"

I was a bit fortunate in the 4 player final game.

When I'm asked this, I usually point people to two places...Mark Haberman's Metagamers podcast on Amun Re and Alex Rockwell's article on BGG. I don't necessarily agree with everything on both of these, but they both represent a very good grounding in the fundamentals....I used Alex's article to get my play to a competent level and then did what I do with every game I want to improve at....try to play people better than me....then I try to pay attention to how and why they beat me.

Congratulations again Eric, but at this point how will you ever find opponents to help you improve your game?
Also thanks for reminding me to check out the articles on BGG they really are helpful and I think you should write one. Very Happy

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think not only has eric won these two tournaments, but he has also won both of the league finals run by jbrier, giving him a 100% perfect record in tournament / leagues on this site. And it's not as though there aren't good players in these tournaments; they've all had a good range of the toughest competitors on this site. I'd be also very sure that the standard on this site is tougher than any face to face group / championship run anywhere else in the world. Astounding!
