When I started the "Early Morning East Coast" games, this was my reasoning. I wanted players that played more turns in that time frame. No complaints here. Most every EMEC game finishes in less than 3 weeks. Thats a fast pace for 30 some turns by 3 or more people. Just specify your time frame when starting a game. Works better than you'd think. Very Happy
I guess Smile that if specifying the time fram Smile works better than we think Smile that there wouldn't be so many complaints Smile Smile Smile

I am curious here.... Should the Number of Games Completed have some effect on weather or NOT someone should be booted....

Don't you think You should get passed the "Beginners" state of playing on this site before you Think It should be Changed...

Again I say, Maybe YOU should set up your own Play by Web site....

Every One is entitled to His or Her Own opinion and Suggestions, but the Bottom Line is this is a Free Fun Game Site, Just Enjoy It or Move On !!!

Guys, instead of complaining about slow players, find or create another game. The site is well-designed for that, and you can have as many games going as you need to fill your time.

Also, if the problem is that long delays between turns make it hard for you to remember your strategy or what you meant to do on the next turn, use the Notepad feature to leave yourself a note.

This topic has been discussed to death and beyond, and while I am often of the opinion that there is no horse so dead it can't use a few more kicks, I think the admins have done pretty much all they can (and should feel obliged to) do to address the slow-play situation.

Well I'm now up to 3 players who I never want to see in a game again yet my only options to avoiding them are passworded games, which is totally inadequate. Why I can't have an ignore list or control who joins a game I create (short of a password) and that some people argue how anything otehr than this is adequate is truly mind boggling.

I honestly believe there is a lot of merit to both sides of this argument. Which makes developing a good solution that much more difficult -- doing it in a way that will please everyone involved.

I do also want to improve this site. It is my child, and I do want to see it improve and develop. There are dozens, possibly hundreds of good suggestions that have been made and I would like to implement all of them. And yes, taking on additional volunteer developers would help address that, but doing even that will take a significant amount of effort to manage. I know this from experience -- bringing Ryan and Myke onboard has resulted in the addition of two excellent games, and they really saved me in terms of stepping up and taking over much of the daily administration and bug fixing over the past year, but it did take a lot of time supporting them in getting acquainted with how everything works, and was also a big risk (fortunately neither of them have wiped out the database, at least not yet).

I'm closing this and a few other threads that have passed the point of meaningful discussion for the time being, so that (a) I can catch up and (b) folks can calm down a little bit. I do ask that you all keep civil and respectful in your posts, and please try to remember that you aren't always going to be able to convince those with opposing views that you are right.
