Small stuff:

The tan player color could be a little darker so that the tan "stick" stands out better against the background. And the gray "spaces" could be a little lighter, so the gray "stick" does likewise.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I have a real hard time distinguishing the colors in this game. Couldn't they be changed to red, blue, yellow, etc.? In particular, the black, grey, and purple look alike. The only color which stands out easily is white.

Thanks.

For the record, ekted's post is from almost a year ago. We replaced tan with green.

I admit that I'm currently having troubles distinguishing purple from black depending on what angle my laptop screen is at.

I do like the game's original color pallette, but it may prove too troublesome to keep. Maybe we can tweak the existing colors a little to heighten the contrast from one to the other.

Only thing I have an minor issue with color is during the bribing phase when white proposes a canal it's pretty hard to see white's canal blended against that tan background. Other than that though I can see all the colors fine.

Surprisingly, given my usual semi-colorblindness, I have no trouble with the Santiago colors. I agree about the white marking in the bribery phase -- perhaps the white player's choice could have a thin black border around it?

That's a great idea.

I have a VERY difficult time distinguishing the colors of the farmers in this game. Specifically the Black, Dark Grey, and Dark Green, if those are even the colors. Purple and White, no problem.
This is an older thread so is anyone else still having this problem?
I suggest very bright colors: Orange, Light green/blue, yellow...just a thought.

Looking forward to opinions...

~Big

PS~ No, I'm not color blind. No, my computer's resolution is fine.

Adding to my last post...

Checking the game log, EVERY move, just to tell which are my tiles; has become no longer fun.

The Black, Dark Grey, and Dark Green against ALL the backgrounds are almost indiscernible.

Does anyone have a solution to this?
Does anyone else even have a problem with this?

Looking forward to everyone's opinions...

I know everyone sees colours differently, but I don't see the green as dark at all. I see pretty clear differentiation between black, medium grey, white, brightish green and bright purple.

I don't have a problem, and I play on four different computers depending on where I'm "working" at the moment. But I keep my monitors set pretty bright.

I do have trouble seeing the white canal offers as somebody mentioned above.

Dark green and black look very similar to me on the upper scoring track - but not on the fields below

I've struggled with colors in many games, but Santiago's colors haven't been an issue to me. My favorite solution to color issues is in games like TTR, where a unique icon accompanies any given color. Another solution I like is where a unique texture is added, like in Reef Encounter. Perhaps changing the colored squares to colored squares with an associated small icon would be helpful?
