What I am strictly talking about here is the price. On the one hand, $40 is not much to relive some of my childhood memories, but on the other hand, the graphics package and some small QoL improvements cost $40.

The basic game, story, and mechanics already exist. This is something that I have purchased many times. Now I am asked to pay the price of a roughly complete game again for the overlay graphics module.

$40 will not bankrupt me, nor will it bankrupt most of you, because many of our old D2 players are now adults, but it still feels a bit wrong, especially considering Blizzard’s recent record. Feeling a little greedy. Blizzard/Activision knows they can charge high prices because D2 veterans like us will pay.

If you want to buy multiple copies in order to have a bo barb in hc that can plunder the protagonist after you die, it will be $80. And I will personally buy D2R Runes to help me play games.


I'm afraid of two things at this price:

1.) Because the entry barrier is too high, it will hinder the entry of new players. People who are not used to playing D2 rarely spend $40 on a whim.

2.) I am a little afraid that Blizzard will run away with the money. They may take some measures against robots in the first few ladder seasons, and then abandon the game, let us fend for ourselves, and turn D2R into the current Diablo 2 in operation.


What is your opinion on all this? Am I not worried about anything at all?
