the 3rd round of the Tikal heads up tournament is officially in the books. thank you all for making it a fast moving round. the games were by and large close and well played:

here are the standings and point totals after 6 games played by each player (2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie):

congrats to borisumi for getting right back into the points race with 2 solid wins this round although Barra(uda suffered his first loss of the tournament he still holds the overall lead. with 6 games remaining for each of us everyone is still in mathematical contention to win it all.

when i came up with this format i did think about the possibility of a tie at the top and the need for a playoff game. so here's what we'll do in case of a tie. if 2 players tie in overall points, they will play one AUCTION game to determine the winner of the tournament. if 3 players tie, the player with the highest total margin of victory in all the regular games will get a bye in the playoffs. the 2 other players will play one semi-final AUCTION game and the winner of that game will play one final AUCTION game against the player who earned the bye to determine the winner of the tournament. in the unlikely (but mathematically possible) event that 4 players tie, the playoffs will consist of 2 semi-final AUCTION games, where the players will be seeded 1 v 4 and 2 v 3 based on total margin of victory in the regular games, and 1 final AUCTION game to determine the winner of the tournament. it's really not as complicated as it sounds but it might happen. also note that playing for your highest possible score in the regular games could be meaningful.

ok, let's get back to the Jungle, where 3 of the 7 4th round games are already under way and 2 more have been created (Eva, Stanislav created game #24 but that doesn't really make any difference so please go ahead and join it). Saul, i hope you're still on board to create games #27 and #28.
