I regret to announce that our license to host Amun-Re on SpielByWeb will unfortunately not be renewed, and thus I will be removing the game from the site in the coming weeks. The timeframe for this is as follows:

+ At some point on March 22, 2010, you will no longer be able to create new Amun-Re games (but will continue to be able to join games that are waiting to start).
+ On April 1, 2010, any games not yet started will be deleted.
+ All games will be allowed to run until completion (or they become inactive).

I hope you have enjoyed playing Amun-Re on SpielByWeb, and that you join me in thanking the game designer and publishers for allowing us to host it for these 6+ years.

So did they give you a reason why they are not renewing their license? Would you please ask them?

Thanks!

That sucks. I guess I'm gonna go start 50 games now.

Thanks

Are you going to replace Amun-Re by an other game? La Cittą for example?

Is money the problem? Could we take up a collection to pay for the license renewal? This is disappointing as I really enjoy the Amun-Re tournaments here.

Knizia has been withdrawing permission to use his games on a number of sites of late; BSW and MabiWeb were already hit. One presumes he has other electronic plans for his games. I'm pretty sure it's not just a matter of wanting money.

Even if it were, and the site paid RK for the rights, the other game license holders would surely feel entitled to the same, and SBW as a free site would have to be a thing of the past.

iphone apps are only any good if you have an iphone.
I'm sure more people have a PC than an iphone.
Another Knizia game disappears off the radar (following Samurai from Mabiweb).

So we create this new game, see, called Ramen Noodles. The rules are similar to a certain game, but of course with all sorts of features and improvements and rules changes to keep it outside of the copyright laws. Twisted Evil

Too bad. I love playing in the tournaments. If it is a matter of $ I would be willing to contribute. Gaditus can you start one last tournament before the time limit expires?

is there a way to get the person in charge email, so WE ALL can send him emails to explain to him the mistake he is doing?
I guess many players love this game from SBW and then buy the game later...

Thanks for the update. Sad news, but nothing else can be done.

Thank you so much for hosting Amun-Re on this site for these many years. I have gotten a lot of enjoyment out of the game.

Oh, and I second the motion of getting La Citta up and running. Wink

Indeed sad news, but it was great while it lasted. Thank you MilkSheik for implementing and maintaining the game here in SBW and thanks to Reiner for letting us play this game on-line over these many years.

I'll miss the real-time Amun-Re team the most (it looks like this Friday is our last one). Sad
