Daily update: Alashar came with huge leaps during the last couple of days - winning 4 of his 5 games so far (sharing the win with Lindalait in the 4 player game).
Two games still to be finished - one two player game between fangio and Wolfpack and a 3 player game between Alashar, Gambitgooroo and Borisumi. And this last 3 player game will determine the ranking of the final 4.
The final scoring round has just started and Gambitgooroo and Alashar are going into this with each 77 points. -(check it out http://www.spielbyweb.com/game.php?games_id=72507). Gambitgooroo has to win to get into the final!!!

Daily update: Well Alashar did it - he found the 48 points and won the last 3 player game. And even there is still one 2 player game open it will not have any influence on the first 4 players. That means we are ready to start the final!!

4 points for a 2 player win and 6 points for a 4 player (3 points for the second place and 1 point for 3rd place) - most points out of those 5 games will determine the tournament winner.
In case of equal points after the 5 games the direct result out of the 2 player game will count!
In case of a tie in the 2 player game each player gets 2 points!

I realize that you specified that the Final would be sent up this way in your original post, Ralf, but I'm curious why the 3-player games were part of the prelims but are not included in the Final? Perhaps we could consider adding some 3-player games to the mix.

We all would have to play 3 3-player games so that we'd have every possible combination of 3-player from 4 people, but that seems to be more in keeping with your original idea of a Grand Slam. There would still be more 3-player games than 4-player and the same number of 3-player as 2-player games.

Is it too late to consider adding the 3-player games in? I think it would balance things out better and I'd be in favor of it. The winner could get 5 points and second place could get 2. That would seem to balance with the scoring of the other games.

How does everybody else feel about this as a possibility?

I agree with you - it would be more in the spirit of the original Idea! I was looking into that too! But then I couldnt figure out a way to do it. If we go with the 3 x 3 player games that would bring us to 8 games each! - seems to be too much for some players ??
Right now you get 12 points for winning all your 2 player games and 12 for winning your 4 player games! Giving 5 points for a 3 player win will give you 15 points.
I always try to keep the points even so the 2 player expert can not win more points than the 3 or the 4 player experts!
So if you want to add the 3x3 player games we would have to either give a 3 player game the same 4 points as a 2 player - or increase the number of 2 player games to 6.
In this case you woud have 6x2player games with 2 points for each win, 3x3player with 4points for a win and 2x4 player with 6 points.

I prefer the option with the same points for the 2 and 3 player game and 8 games each total - so if smlait and fangio agree we could add those games without a problem!

If we go with that I would suggest to give a second place in a 3 player game 2 points!

I'm glad you're open to adding some 3-player games to the mix. It makes sense. It's not too many games for me, but we'll have to hear from smlait and fangio (I'll pm them and ask them to weigh in here).

Yeah, I understand the whole balancing of the points necessity. I'm not wild about making a win in a 3-player worth the same number of points as a win in the 2-player, but to get it to balance out perfectly, we'd probably all have to play about 20 games, which is not practical. It helps though that 2nd place would still get 2 points. So, I guess my preference is the same as yours, adding 3 3-player games with the winners receiving 4 points, and 2nd place, 2. I'd be open to your other option, if there's strong support for that.
