Federal Vape Pod Flavor Ban
The competition in the disposable ecig market, also known as disposable vapes, continues to heat up. It seems more brands and flavors hit the market each day, as companies rush to fill the chasm left when adult vapers were deprived of access to the prefilled vape pod flavors they prefer.
The appeal of disposable vapes is that they perform quite similarly to the popular prefilled vape pods that dominated the market until the federal ban. They are autodraw devices which rely on flavorful nic salts to deliver satisfying performance from a small package.

Disposable vapes have been around since the early days of vaping but they have really come into their own with the introduction of potent nic salts. Before nic salts, the higher pH level of freebase nicotine limited amount that you could put into an ejuice before it became too harsh to vape.

This is why devices were growing in complexity, power and size before nic salts. After nic salts became widely used, vape pods became all the rage. Disposables take the form factor and convenience of vape pods a step further. You do not even need to worry about charging or swapping pods. After nic salts provide a satisfying vaping experience with very little vapor production and battery drain. The best disposable vapes take full advantage of nic salt ejuices and have a wide selection of outstanding flavors.

Apart from being convenient and satisfying, disposables are notable for clarity and flavor. The only real drawback to disposable vapes is a lack of lower nicotine options. This lack of flexibility is a big deal when most of the top devices use stout nic salt formulas that range between 5 and 6.8 percent. But if you are looking for more and lower nicotine levels, your options become more limited.

This lack of nic strength options has not gone unnoticed. Disposable vapes with multiple nic strengths are beginning to hit the market. This is great news for vapers interested in lower nicotine disposable options and adults looking to make the switch for cigarettes.


Low nicotine is of course a relative term. Compared to high VG juice, almost all of the nic strength options offered are fairly strong. The exception being the nicotine free Zaero.

The flexibility afforded by multiple nicotine strengths is a game changer. Most bottled nic salts are available in two nicotine strengths. Usually 5 percent strength and lower nic option at about half that level. The smoothness of nic salts makes high nicotine levels possible but the quality of the vaping experience does not decline when the nic level is ramped down.

There are currently three major disposable vape brands that offer multiple nicotine strengths: Puff Bar, Zaero and Ziip. These lower nicotine disposables manage to deliver the same flavor but with considerably less nicotine.

Zaero Disposable Vape

The Zaero is the innovator when it comes to disposable vapes offering the flexibility of multiple nic strengths and it remains the class leader. Check out our review of the Zaero from earlier this year. The zero nicotine disposable is a unique offering, and smooth nic salt formulas of 1.8, 3.0 and 5.0 percent strength round out your options.

This selection is significant as it actually gives the Zaero as much flexibility and range as a refillable vape pod. Most nic salts are only available in two nic strengths, generally a 2.5 and 5 percent. The same is true for prefilled vape pods.

The Zaero is a classic stick style disposable, quite similar to the Posh. In our review that pitted the Posh versus the Posh Plus versus the Zaero, the Zaero alone offered multiple nic options. As groundbreaking as the Zaero’s flexibility is, the Posh Plus Disposable Vape was ground breaking in a different way. With a cylindrical form, Posh was able to fit a 450mAh battery and 2ml of nic salt ejuice, strength 6 percent, in each Posh Plus.


The Zaero also has a large juice capacity for a disposable, holding 1.8ml. This makes its price very competitive with prefilled vape pod kits.

The Zaero’s already strong flavor lineup has been further strengthened with the addition of grape. This gives the Zaero a total of eight flavors to choose from.

This style of one-time use ecig is less than 3 inches in length and generally holds 1 to 1.2ml of nic salt ejuice. The Twst holds exactly 1ml. Mini Vapes have a slightly different design than stick style disposables. Rather than a soaked polyfill, the ejuice is actually stored in a plastic reservoir that is laid parallel to the battery. This really shortens the device and allows for a dedicated mouthpiece.

The Twst flavors themselves are beyond reproach. Combining, or should we saying twisting, combinations of tart, sweet and realistic fruit notes to create perfect all day vapes. Now that Twst Disposables are available in 2 and 5 percent nicotine, they are certainly a great option for vapers who love disposables but are looking for a lower nicotine option.

I just ignore the vape ban and keep on vaping indoors ... I quitted smoking exactly due to vaping, and I am not eager to come back to cigarettes, again, I don't want to refuse from my iPV Aspect .
