Just one game left, but that is still in Round 4 as of early this evening. We now know 7 of the 9 semi finalists.

Winners so far: Gaditus, Powermorph, ahauwi1, JM, kxw and Joshuaaaaaa.

Best 2nds are Srook221 and Dobinator. Srook221 lost by the same as Dobinator but scored more points, so he is assured a place in the semi's. Dobinator will have to wait on the last game.

The final game is still going, but half way through the 8th round. Should be able to finalise the semi line-up in about a week.

The first round is now complete. The 2 best runners-up are Dobinator and srook221 (both losing by 3). The draw for the semi is:

Code:

Santiago-mania Semi G1   kxw, thiery’en’sarjant, Dobinator
Santiago-mania Semi G2   Joshuaaaaaa, Powermorph, JM
Santiago-mania Semi G3   Gaditus, ahauwi1, srook221

As per the first round - no variant and password = tournament

No more lucky losers - you win or you are out.

Congrats to Joshuaaaaaa who won a very tight semi - only 3 points separating the players. I took an early lead, but both JM and Joshuaaaaaa came back strongly.... In fact too strongly!

Semi 1 is almost over - into the 10th round, but the third semi is only in Round 5, which is very unusual as Gaditus is normally the first to finish. If this pace is maintained, then we are 2-3 weeks from announcing the final which would be about normal pace for Santiago games (4-6 weeks).

And there we have it folks, the last finalist is Gaditus. 2 of the top 3 seeds have made it through to the final, so Joshuaaaaaa has his work cut out.

Final is

Santiago-mania Final kxw, Gaditus, Joshuaaaaaa

As per previous rounds - no variant and password = final

Good Luck to all of you.

The final has completed today. And the winner is Gaditus.

Congrats to Gaditus on another fine tournament victory.

Congrats to Gaditus. My upset victory was not to be. I definitely think I was outplayed in the final, although I think I picked up a few new ideas from it. Smile

A couple of good tile sets when I was CO set the game up nicely for me. I had a ten point lead by round six/seven and just had to keep it tight until the end.

Sometimes it is luck of the draw, but it is necessary to be set up for the luck when it comes.

Thanks for the game, and for running the tourney powermorph.
